Tuesday, May 24 - Tel Aviv

Welcome to Tel Aviv, a bustling city on the Mediterranean coast. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for an exquisite welcome dinner.

 

Wednesday, May 25 - Caesarea, Tel Megiddo & Tel Aviv

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Today we follow the coast to the ruins of the ancient Roman capital of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great around 22 B.C. Marvel at its Roman theater, aqueduct, and fortress. Travel to the Valley of Armageddon at the excavation site of Tel Megiddo, which dates back to the Bronze Age.

 

Thursday, May 26 - Tel Aviv & Haifa

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Step back in time in the ancient Crusader city of Acre (UNESCO). Then, visit the seaport of Acre, the latter a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to Phoenician and Crusader times. While at Acre, tour the Knights’ Halls and explore the elaborately covered markets.

Friday, May 27 - Haifa, Capernaum & Magdala

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Set off for the Mt. of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. Continue to the ancient fishing village of Capernaum for lunch. In the afternoon, visit Magdala and the site of the newly excavated synagogue--currently the oldest excavated one in Galilee from the first century AD.

 

Saturday, May 28 - Haifa, Banias & Golan Heights

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Explorer the gorgeous Banias Reserve name Caesarea Philippi, an impressive Greco-Roman city located near a flowing spring - one of the sources of the Jordan River on the foothills of the Hermon mountain. A Roman sanctuary, which included templates of ritual courtyards, was built near the sacred grotto of the Greco-Roman god Pan. In the afternoon, visit Mount Bantal and gain a deeper understanding of the complex realities on the ground along the border with Syria. Look down on the "Valley of Tears" - the site of the largest tank battle in the world, outside of WWII.

Sunday, May 29 - Haifa & Jerusalem

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Depart for one of the most captivating cities in the world, Jerusalem. In the afternoon, take a tour of the Jewish Quarter and have time for reflection at the Western Wall. Visit the City of David and see the Royal Acropolis, underground water systems from the time of Abraham, and the Gihon Spring.

 

Monday, May 30 - Jerusalem, Masada & Qumran

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Travel to Qumran, the location of one of the most important archeological finds of all time, the discovery of the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls. Lunch in Masada. In the afternoon, visit the former palatial fortress of Masada a UNESCO site. Ascend the ancient walls of Masada by cable car to Herod's Palaces, the Roman Camp, and Synagogue. 

Tuesday, May 31 - Jerusalem - Old City

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Enjoy a spectacular lookout over Jerusalem from the Mt. of Olives and visit the garden of Gethsemane & the Church of All Nations. View of the Golden Gate known also as the Gate of Mercy. Enter the Old City through the Lions Gate and trace the Via Delarosa, Ecce Homo Convent, ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. 

 

Wednesday, June 1 - Jerusalem & Bethlehem

Morning lectures by Victor Davis Hanson, Bruce Thornton, and select prominent Israeli figures. Explorer the impressive Isreal Museum including the "Shrine of the Book" where the original Dead Sea Scrolls are exhibited. Lunch in Bethlehem and visit the Church of the Nativity - the birthplace of Jesus and the first church ever built. In the evening, have a farewell dinner at the hotel with final words by Victor Davis Hanson.

 

Thursday, June 2 - Jerusalem

Private transfers to the airport for individual flights back to the United States.
